Roles of Cater Waiter

Performing food and drink serving duties at dinners and special events while interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and professional manner.

Set up for events, from organizing tables, putting cloths, place settings and setting up a buffet. They are also responsible for breakdown of the event, which consists in taking all dishes, cloths, napkins, rentals and final clean up.

Some qualifications to become a cater waiter are, but not limited to, High School diploma, previous experience in the industry, excellent communication and listening to customers, ability to follow directions, and they must provide their own uniform which can vary depending on the venue, client or NYC catering company they work for.




There’s also physical requirements to work as a banquet server, you must be able to speak and hear, close and distance vision, work long hours, walk up and down staircases, be able to frequently lift up to 30lbs and stood repeatedly.

But the most important part is to always keep proactive and remain professional especially when on the floor, no cell phone usage, no chatting with other Event Staffing NYC members and deliver the best customer service.
